Welcome to our new website (still in process of completion) for St Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick (Church of Ireland), the principal church of Limerick City Parish, which also comprises the Parish Church of St Michael and All Angels, in Pery Square in the heart of Georgian Limerick, and the picturesque little church of Abington in Murroe, County Limerick.
St Mary’s Cathedral stands above the Shannon River on King’s Island, where it was founded in 1168AD, and for nearly 900 years it has been a house of prayer in daily use. It is also open daily for visits by tourists and pilgrims (and we are currently developing an interactive tourist trail, to augment the new information panels for visitors. Daily prayer is at 9am, except Tuesdays and Thursdays when the Eucharist (Holy Communion) is celebrated at 1030am. Sunday worship is at 11.15am and 7pm.
You are very welcome to visit us through the internet, and we hope you will visit us again, and be inspired to work with us as we serve our Lord Jesus Christ in prayer, mission and outreach in our world.
This website is designed to help you – with information about who we are, and what Anglicans believe, on the rich historical legacy of this sacred space, as well as new of future events.
